Chamber Orchestra of Europe/Heinz Holliger
The works by Heinz Holliger collected on this CD allow us an interesting perusal of his oeuvre, from the 1970s to the beginning of the 21st century. Important phases in his compositional development are presented here in a representative manner, with the exception of Holliger’s early oeuvre, which includes works of almost all the genres and is thus already highly varied (ranging from solo pieces to chamber and orchestral works and pieces of music theatre). - (2 CDs)

Thierry Lang was born on December 1956 in Romont in Canton Fribourg. He started to learn the piano at 5, and studied ‘classically’ until the age of 21. He also became passionate about jazz when he discovered Errol Garner and Oscar Peterson. At 15, he heard Bill Evans for the first time, who then became his personal source of inspiration. Thanks to Evans, he discovered possibilities of making links between jazz and classical music. This is something that he has not ceased to explore deeper since then, over the course of more than 20 albums that have displayed his talents as a lyrical, ‘swinging’ pianist as also as a subtle composer who is an exceptional melodist.
