DSPRCD026 is part of a new pianist-led series of the piano roll albums. These contain some of the finest playing from the Great Pianists of the Early 20th Century.
Some of these rolls are nearly 100 years old and come from a collection owned by Denis Condon who is one of the worlds most respected authorities on the piano roll and has some 18,000 in his collection. He also can construct the machines that read the rolls.
One of the main selling points of this album is the high calibre of pianists and the rarity of the recordings.
These recordings were made in 1992 and recorded on a brand new Yamaha Concert Grand under Deniss supervision They are not historical recordings.
These recordings have by far a better overall sound performance than any other which were recorded using older equipment.
A must enthusiasts of piano music and great performances (even historical ones).
