Martin Boykan (b. 1931) has been at the forefront of the American serialism movement for many decades. Originally from New York City he has been a member of Brandies University's music faculty since 1957. The String Quartet No. 1 is from 1967 while the other works date from the 1990's and demonstrate the composer's new-found depth.
