This occurred not only for repertoire which hardly, if ever, had made it onto a recording – correctly played (!) – but also for the sheer fun and musicality which Shehori brings to these delicate but delicious works. Volume two is now most welcome. Here he focuses on the young pianist stretching his/her musical wings so to say, tackling those multi-movement pieces in miniature, the sonatinas. Though small in size, these pieces are rich in content. All will enjoy this disc, whether these notes used to (somewhat) grace your fingers during piano lessons or whether you just wish for a delightful program of piano miniatures |
